Behind the Ink 2nd Blog
How are ways tattoos influence culture? There are many cultures that involve tattoos, and the requirement of a tattoo. For example, two cultures are the Mayan and the Maori cultures. The Mayan culture's biggest symbol is the Sun. The Sun is the bringer of life and light, which also brings the uproar of crops and plantations. In the Mayan culture, tattoos are spiritual. Another culture that involves tattoos is the Maori culture. Ta Moko is a traditional tattoo that involves being on the body, or face. Their tattoos express commitment and respect. Men have tattoos on their face, buttocks, and legs. Whereas the females wear it on their lips and their chin. Tattoos are very valuable tradition in both the cultures.

Behind the Ink will explore the tattoos in our current culture tracing their history and the reasons why people are "inked." it will also tell the reason why some artists become tattoo artists and how tattoo went from taboo to all the new rage. Often, people with tattoos are misunderstood by others. Behind the Ink aims to dispel myths about tattooing. In this film we will explore the long and valuable history of tattoos dating back to Neolithic times. We will also demonstrate how tattooing is an art form by interviewing a professional tattoo artist who has devoted her life to perfecting her craft. We we also interview people who have chosen to get tattoos and come to understand the wide range of reasons why people get inked.
Tattoos are very vital to the Maori and the Mayan culture. Having tattoos in a certain place on the body differs meaning. For example, a tattoo on your face reveals respect. This shows that tattoos are more than a piece of art, it shows ranking in a certain society, pride, and influence of the culture in certain tribes. The information in the article informs us that tattoos aren't just a piece of art nor a story, but a piece of history as well. Cultures from long ago, like the Maori and the Mayan cultures have had tattoos influenced on them before tattoos were even popular among citizens.

Behind The Ink 1st Blog
The topic of my film is tattoos. I am interested in researching the topic because many stereotypes are labeled to people with tattoos. These stereotypes include a whore, drop out, and a follower.
My intention with the film is to break down the typical stereotypes about people with tattoos and get to the real story. A tattoo isn't just a picture, every tattoo has an inspirational motivation and a story behind it.
Tattoos can give the wrong impression off some people, but that's not what tattoo's are supposed to be about. Tattoos should be for/from a memorable event/thing in one's life. My personal connection to tattoos is that it's an art, and I am an artist. I love drawing, especially if I've been inspired off of someone or some thing.

Alia's Picture Essay
For our film, Behind the Ink, will consist of a collaboration of interviews, B-rolls, and pictures to increase the feel into the film we are producing. Everyone thinks that people get tattoos because they are pressured into it, or that it is the new "cool" thing. Behind every tattoo illuminates a story, and we will illuminate the stories behind some tattoos. Although majority tattoos may not have a story, they may favor an animal and want to get it tattooed on them, but in that case we will learn the story about how their love for it was obtained.

Review of To Be Heard
One would think of poems, to be just a regular piece of writing. But this film makes it so much past that. Before I saw this film I thought poems were just any size paragraph, that has to be about one thing. They showed how a poem can be like a story, it can be about everything. They put their feelings into reading the poem. They talk about reality and the truth. The B-rolls were excellent, it really helped put the mood into the film. I love how they were able to express how they feel through poetry, and writing.
